Case Study - QLD Health

Queensland Health’s senior management knew that if it wanted its staff of more than 60,000 employees to succeed in today's challenging environment, it must create an atmosphere where communication is open and transparent with the process of change supported, and where staff feel respected for their contributions.

In an effort to foster closer bonding, Dale Carnegie Training created teams of staff members, a mix of old and new to put through the Dale Carnegie Course. The course built on effective oral communication and improved interpersonal skills such as negotiation, conflict resolution, enhanced personal image and self-confidence

In the fourteen years that Dale Carnegie Training has worked with Queensland Health, countless employees have become Dale Carnegie Training graduates, with 10% of that number going on to become departmental directors within Queensland Health. “There has been a long-standing commitment to staff training within Queensland Health,” said Director-General of Queensland Health, Ms. Uschi Schreiber. “I fully intend to maintain and further develop that commitment. As part of the on-going cultural and organisational change within the department, staff development through organisations such as Dale Carnegie Training is perhaps even more important now than it has ever been.”
